Back-to-School Advice for Grandparents

Back-to-School Advice for Grandparents

Helping the Grandkids Have a Great School Year

As a grandparent, you may not be as involved in the day-to-day lives of your grandkids as you once were. But that doesn't mean you can't still play an essential role in their lives — especially when it comes to significant events like going back to school. Here are some tips on how you can support your grandkids during this transition and beyond:

1. Get them excited about learning.

Whether it's helping them pick out new school supplies or talking to them about all the great things they'll learn this year, try to get them excited about returning to school.

2. Help them with their homework.

Once they're actually in school, offer to help them with their homework from time to time. This can be a great way to bond and ensure they're keeping up with their studies.

3. Stay involved in their lives.

Even if you don't live close by, try to stay in touch with your grandkids. Regular communication will let them know that you care about them and are interested in their lives, whether through phone calls, text messages, or video chats.

4. Support their health.

As your grandkids head back to school, help them (and yourself!) by staying up-to-date on vaccinations. It's also essential to encourage healthy eating habits and regular exercise, which can help improve focus and concentration.

5. Take care of yourself.

As a grandparent, one of the best things you can do for your grandkids is to take care of your health. By staying healthy and active, you'll be able to support your grandkids better – both emotionally and physically. So make sure to schedule regular check-ups with your doctor, get vaccinated, eat a balanced diet, and exercise regularly.

By taking care of yourself, you'll be able to be there for your grandkids when they need you the most. You can help your grandkids have a successful school year — and a happy and healthy life! We hope your star student's school year is the best yet.
